Kinlochbervie towards Lochinver

Sunday 9th June
Kinlochbervie, Loch Inchard, towards Lochinver

Today could be a late start again to take advantage of the flood tide. Left KLB in sunshine, light winds and calm sea for the short hop to Lochinver.
An increasingly spectacular coastline all the way to Lochinver – the mountains providing a majestic backdrop – especially Suilven ‘one of the most distinctive mountains in Scotland’.

The approach to Lochinver was as stunning as into KLB the previous day – we were so lucky to see this coast in these conditions. There are new pontoons in the harbour with very few boats so we could choose the most convenient berth. Log reads ” 1615 On pontoon Lochinver. Very few boats. Beautiful!!”

A went for a walk and as usual managed to gather some useful local information. He came backed armed with recommendations for places to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed a super meal at The Larder and bought some of the pies in the deli section. These should make a change from sandwiches for lunch on board. If we enjoy them, there is a mail order service!

On the way back to Bluebottle, we met the friendly couple who had offered advice – they asked where we’ d eaten and if we’d enjoyed our meal. They assured us that the pies are delicious.
